Rick Harrison’s latest trip to the hospital quickly turned into a frightening health scare after doctors uncovered a problem serious enough to require emergency heart surgery.
The 61-year-old Pawn Stars personality had been preparing for a relatively straightforward medical procedure when his care team made the unexpected discovery. Instead of the treatment originally planned, Harrison was rushed into bypass surgery as doctors moved to address the more serious issue.
“He went in for a simpler procedure, and they found he needed a bypass,” a spokesperson for the Harrison family told Fox News Digital.
The good news is that Harrison is now recovering and appears to be doing well following the unexpected operation.
According to his family, Harrison is resting comfortably and looking forward to making a full recovery. He is also thankful for the doctors and hospital staff who cared for him and grateful to have his wife and other family members by his side.
The sudden health scare comes during an emotional new chapter for Harrison, who has experienced both tremendous loss and newfound happiness over the past several years.
His Wife Angie Is by His Side
One of the people supporting Harrison during his recovery is his new wife, Agripina “Angie” Polushkin.
Just months before his emergency surgery, Harrison spoke about how much his life had changed since meeting Angie, saying he was the happiest he had ever been.
The couple married on Jan. 3 at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. In true Las Vegas fashion, an Elvis Presley impersonator officiated the ceremony.
Angie, 42, had already become an important source of support for Harrison before they exchanged vows.
Harrison said the two quickly connected after meeting and that he was especially attracted to her intelligence and genuine personality. The reality star, who describes himself as someone who enjoys reading books about subjects such as physics for fun, said being able to have meaningful conversations with Angie helped bring them closer together.
But their relationship also developed during an incredibly difficult period in Harrison’s life.
Harrison Endured Devastating Family Losses
In January 2024, Harrison’s son Adam died at just 39 years old.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner later determined that Adam died from an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The loss devastated the Harrison family.
Less than two years later, Harrison experienced another painful loss when his mother, Joanne Harrison, died in November 2025 at age 85.
Through those difficult moments, Harrison said Angie remained beside him.
“She was there for me,” Harrison previously told Fox News Digital while discussing their relationship.
Harrison said that support became one of the things he valued most about their relationship.
Now, following his own medical emergency, Angie is once again by his side as he recovers.
