Christopher “Block” Gordon was best known for competing on the reality TV show Street Outlaws: Fastest in America back in 2020. E! Online shares that on the show, there were eight street racing teams in the competition, and Gordon was the leader of Team South Carolina. He led the team to victory and earned the name “South Carolina Street King.”
Sadly, Gordon lost his life racing. According to a Facebook post by KD Motorsports Park, there was “a devastating accident” during a race on August 22nd, and Gordon didn’t survive. They explained, “Our staff was immediately on scene with trained medical staff, firefighters, EMT and medical equipment, along with highly medically trained bystanders who exhausted all of their efforts at the time of the accident.”
They shared, “Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to mourn the loss of this good man an absolute legend of our sport.”
According to WOWKTV, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the accident around 8pm. Gordon was taken to a local hospital where he ended up being pronounced dead.
Gordon’s final Facebook post was the same day at the tragic accident that took his life. He posted a flyer about the race and wrote, “It’s race day at the Hill. Drivers meeting @ 6:15. Let’s get busy.”
Gordon’s fiancée, Amanda Laport Grast, shared a picture of herself with Gordon on Facebook and wrote out her feelings sharing, “I have tried multiple times to make a post but to be completely honest, I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to think, I don’t know what to feel, I don’t know what to do…. I AM SHATTERED!!!!”
She added, “Please be patient with me. I’m not trying to ignore anyone, I’m trying to process! I lost my best friend and I don’t know how to navigate life without him in it.”
She continued, “Please pray for me, pray that I am able to make the best decisions, pray that I am able to at least semi function…. I’M LOST. We did EVERYTHING together, from the time we woke up in the morning until he kissed my forehead good night EVERY NIGHT. We were a TEAM and now I’ve lost my MVP. There is no “I” in “team” so now I don’t know how “I” am supposed to continue.”
A GoFundMe was set up to raise money to pay for Gordon’s funeral expenses. The fundraiser organizer, Jessica Litchfield, described Gordon as “a man who lived life to the fullest.”
