Credit Kash Patel’s FBI again – they just stopped a likely terrorist attack in New York City.

Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, New York, has been charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS after allegedly plotting to bomb the New York State Capitol building less than two miles from her home. She wanted to destroy as much of the building as possible, kill state senators while they were in session, and then flee to ISIS-controlled territory in Syria.

Her own words, from the criminal complaint: “I want to destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators while they are meeting. I want them to lose a lot of important documents as well. I want it to have an effect on the American system. And destroy some of the taghut.”

She visited the Capitol grounds five times between mid-July and early August — scoping it out, taking photographs, planning the attack. She purchased bomb-making materials using $200 provided by an FBI confidential source. She was arrested before she could do anything with them.

This is the same woman who had social media accounts repeatedly suspended for violating platform terms of service. The same woman who posted “Praise be to Allah for September 11th” and “When I can migrate, I will poison these infidels.” The same woman who recorded a formal oath of allegiance to ISIS — a “Bayah” — and distributed it online.

She converted to Islam five years ago. Her accounts were flagged repeatedly. The FBI was watching. And when she made contact with a confidential source posing as an ISIS facilitator, they let the operation run until she provided the materials and provided the opportunity to arrest her.

This is what functional counterterrorism looks like. Patient, methodical, intelligence-driven — using the tools available under existing law to identify a threat, develop the evidence, and make the arrest before anyone gets hurt.

It also needs to be said plainly: this is the threat environment in which Mamdani’s New York City has been trying to arrest the Prime Minister of Israel, declaring opposition to ICE enforcement, and welcoming Hamas sympathizers into its political coalition. This is the threat environment in which the DSA’s candidate in Michigan campaigned alongside Hasan Piker — who celebrated Hamas after October 7 and said America deserved September 11th. This is the threat environment in which congressional Democrats are demanding that Medicaid stop sharing data with ICE and that federal law enforcement be constrained at every turn.

Assistant Attorney General John Eisenberg stated that Bowie “plotted to deploy an explosive device at the New York State Capitol, intending to kill public officials and to destroy ‘as much of the building as possible’ before fleeing to ISIS-controlled territory in Syria.”

She wanted to destroy as much of America as possible before running to its enemies. The FBI stopped her. God willing, they keep stopping them — regardless of how many obstacles the left places in their path.
