A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after 140 vehicles were destroyed at a car park used by Gatwick Airport passengers, ITV News' Charlotte Cross reports
Around 140 vehicles have been destroyed in a "complex" fire at a car park used by Gatwick Airport holidaymakers in West Sussex.
Flames tore through Caldyne Business Park in Rowfant on Saturday, burning cars and leaving thousands without power.
A 67-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said on Monday that fire crews were continuing to dampen down hotspots and hoped to conclude operations tomorrow.
Emergency services responded to the “significant and complex” fire just after 9pm on Saturday at Caldyne Business Park, around eight miles from the airport.
Some 2,133 businesses and homes were left without power for three minutes at 11.02pm and 57 of the properties had no power until 8.05am on Sunday, UK Power Networks said.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Following on from Saturday's fire at Wallage Lane in Rowfant, fire crews have been at the scene today damping down hotspots, and we are hoping to conclude firefighting operations tomorrow.
"This has been a complex fire involving a workshop and a significant number of vehicles and cylinders."
They added that there were no casualties as a result of this fire.
A joint investigation has been launched with Sussex Police.
