17-year-old arrested after large fire near Weston-super-Mare damaged multiple businesses

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a large fire near Weston-super-Mare.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire near Locking Farm Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday 18 August.

The blaze damaged several businesses in the estate and caused the A371 Locking Road to be partially closed.

Avon and Somerset Police say: "Early fire investigation work was carried out and concluded the cause of the fire was likely deliberate."

Police investigations have been carried out including house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.

The teenager remains in police custody.
